Tyson Beckford is an American fashion model and Actor, best known for Ralph Lauren Polo Model, born in Rochester, New York city to Jamaican parents of Panamanian, Afro-Jamaican and Chinese descent. After living in Jamaica for seven years, after been taken there by his mother, the Beckford family returned to America where they have remained.
In 1992, Tyson was recruited to hip hop Magazine the source by a talent scout, Jeff Jones, who was later, credited with ‘discovering’ Beckford in New York City. Eventually, hard work paid off when Tyson got recruited by Ralph Lauren as the front model for the company’s Polo line of male’s sportswear.
And by 1995, Beckford was named ‘man of the year’ by the cable television music channel VH1 and ’50 most beautiful people in the world’ by People magazine.
