THE RIGHT JACKET AND TROUSER COMBINATION

We all have had those moments when we are trying so hard to figure out what trouser to pair a suit jacket with for an event, solely because we have just a few trousers that we think can match the jacket or perhaps we worry if the particular jacket can match the countless trousers out there and yet leave us looking normal and not like a splash of paint on a canvas.

I concur with the female brand creative director and owner, Coco Chanel that says, “Fashion is not something that exist in dresses only”. Wearing blazers, suit jacket, or sports coat is on the high side. It is the singular piece of clothing that adds the gentle in every man. There are varying colors of suit in the market place; some mild, others tonal… regardless of how high the hues of the jacket, sports coat or blazer there is (are) a pool of trousers that will be suitable for each and the blazer with the must reoccurring need are below represented:

BLACK

Black because of its huge versatility and monochrome nature will very much match every other shade or colors on the spectrum. A black blazer, suit jacket or sports coat will subtly suit a white, brown and even a purple trouser.

WHITE

White suits are often always reserved for special occasions, in fact the closet you can get to a perfectly white suit is Ivory. Like bleached teeth or the color of an elephant’s tusk, an ivory suit or jacket is seen more on black tie events, red carpets and weddings and are oft paired with black pants. Except for personal reasons, pairing an ivory jacket or tuxedo(which they are always made in) with diverging color of trouser will end well when paired cautiously with red, blue, brown and a few other shades that can be curbed.

BROWN

Very much easily like the black, a brown suit jacket, blazer or sports coat will easily blend into most colors save just a few. A black trouser will very much be the first to be engulfed by this color of jacket. A navy blue trouser, grey, white and a any shade of brown trouser will do just fine if you are planning to go for a night event and you want to be soft on sophistication.

NAVY BLUE

A navy blue blazer, sports jacket or suit jacket is one of those key wardrobe component that can interchanged and inter-used for any event from work to weddings. The best way to pull off a sophisticated look with a navy blue suit is to pair with either a grey or white trouser. A black, or even a contrasting shade of blue will do but it is best to go for a contrasting shade for the most effect.

GREEN

As the shades get deeper and deeper, it becomes less compatible with other shades(In terms of pairing). With caution, layering a green suit jacket, blazer and sports coat with a diverging shade of pants will become the OOTD (Outfit of The Day). A green suit will conspicuously blend into white, grey and most definitely black trousers.

Finally, The key to successfully pairing suit separates is to layer the sports coat, blazer or suit jacket on a different solid colored piece of the same material but contrasting hues, the jacket material is allowed to be a bit coarse, thick but the trousers should be played down neatly. There are a myriad of suit jacket, sports coat and blazer with very high pitched colors out there and it may seem difficult finding the right trouser to match them. Well we hope this serves as a guide. Black trousers as well as grey and white are the easiest to blend into any color of sports coat, blazer or suit jacket.
