TREND ALERT: THE PERFECT REPLACEMENT FOR SHIRT AND TIE

I cannot say at this point if the turtle neck has been abandoned or is an under used menswear staple. The turtle neck has been stereotyped with the old dress up days and Since there is a revolution, it is becoming very hard to not find on the street.

Also referred to as roll-neck, Polo neck or skivvy, the turtle neck has been around for ages and was originally used by athletes and Naval officers for its simply durable and flamboyant nature, plus warmth.
The turtle neck was adopted by philosophers, Big business men and even iconic billionaire computer geniuses for the same reasons Naval officers wore them, the comfort it provided as the first reason and secondly, for the ease of substitution it provided for the traditional shirt and tie.

From the above picture, it is self explanatory what a perfect substitute to the constantly on-demand shirt and tie the turtle neck is. Just like virtually every  facet of fashion warrants, picking the right colours is important to pulling off an awesome look. Here, two distinct shade of blue are put to use, which simply tells that in pairing a light coloured turtle neck, or if you have to use a light coloured turtle neck it will be advisable to go for a dark coloured blazer and vice versa. Again, this look is dynamic and can be worn to virtually every event from a night to work (with calmer tones).
From the run way is a perfect use of the turtle neck for a perfect work ensemble. Except if you work in the creative industry, like fashion, or fashion writing the rule of thumb is calm tones. Layering black turtle necks with brown trousers, black man bags, and shoe accompanied with a descent blazer or sports coat leaves you on top of your dress game.
