First off, I have to apologize for being off for a short while, somethings can’t just fix themselves, and you have to go all out to solve certain issues.
Enough about me, OK, just recently I came across a young gentleman: good looking, nice fit-cut dress pants, decent oxford shoes, a nice socks woven in herringbone pattern (comprising two colours one matching with his pants and the other his shoe), clean shave, in a word, he looked “classy”. I particularly admired his choice of colour; the fabrics just blended one in the other. Plus he had a really cool brown Valentino belt. Every other thing fitted perfectly in their place except for one thing – the shirt.
In the world of fashion and of fashionable gentlemen, it is an abomination for one to wear a short sleeved shirt, or any other fabric with half sleeves with a tie. Generally, long sleeved shirts worn with a tie are considered as dress shirts, formal button down shirts that can be worn to work or any formal or social event. The short sleeve shirt, though may come with buttons, it cannot be considered as a dress shirt. In certain countries, health and safety workers are required to wear short sleeved shirts. Reasons: hygiene. This does not categorize them as the stylish or less stylish quota of the society, but following in this dress pattern amounts in becoming unstylish by default.
The rule of thumb when wearing a short sleeved shirt is to get the correct diameter for your arm, certain persons treat this with levity and wind up wearing shirts with bogus sleeves, this can be curtailed by folding the sleeves or getting them properly hemmed by a tailor. Ensure the shirt fits, the beauty of every shirt lies therein, in other not to look like you are wearing a passed-down shirt, fitting must be a priority. Finally, layer short sleeved shirts with either a chinos trouser or jeans for the best causal look.
