One of Nigerian’s high-end celebrity stylist, Jeremiah Ogbodo also known as Swanky Jerry who is known for his remarkable sense of style and overt panache has put forward a 5 step guide to styling a red suit.
As far as men’s style goes, the use of colors is entirely on the low. In fact, so many men as a result of certain formal standards which seem to restrict the entire virtually the entire gender from indulging in the use of distinctive pigments for pleasure. Swanky Jerry in his proposition, which I find utterly attractive and fashionable enough, portrays this style in simple but classical ways so as to impress upon all men’s fashion enthusiast the endless and timeless possibilities of wearing colors which are not by any means limited to the ones used in the photographs below:
Red suit, black shawl lapel detail x black shoes and sunglasses:
If and at any time you want to dress up in a whole new way that requires the use of high-toned colors, it is best to layer your choice tone with monochromes. The reason for this cannot be over emphasized since the suit or whatever fashion piece is already high toned, it is a general rule of thumb to allow it stand alone i.e let it POP.
In a more beat-down style, wearing colored pants can by numerous ways accentuate ones love for details and simplicity while fostering an unparalleled ensemble. For the second look, Swanky Jerry connotates a simple work wear. Just like the first look, every other color was played down to leave enough room for the high tone to shine.
In account of a more casual look, the stylist drew concern to a more laid back look, further stressing the use of a single high pitched color for an entire ensemble. The look seems to be my favorite and the easiest among all five. Red baseball hat x Tee x Trousers and maybe; a black shoe, white trainers, sandals, slides etc… of a totally laid back hue.
One thing is common between this look and the preceding. Both looks are casual outfits that can be worn for different occasions. While the look 3 puts to use every day casual pieces; this look unveils a more relaxed and classy approach to wearing high toned shirts in combination with trousers, hats plus and a black shoe.
For look 5, it’s all fresh and fly. Saving the best for last is such a cool thing to do. For me, crisp white button-downs does it all; making this look my best. There’s little to be said on this look, it is self-explanatory. White button-down, black tie and shoe plus the suit has a distinctive black shawl lapel. If you ever want to pull of this look; Copy and Paste.
A very big shout out to SwankyJerry for this one.
