FEEL FIRST, DRESS LATER: A GUIDE TO DRESSING WELL.

Looking good and dressing well are two broadly different scope. Looking good has a lot to do with your overall outlook, whereas dressing well is consistently looking good so that it becomes an inevitable habit. It is when you have established why and how to do the former that the latter steps in and dwells for all times.

In order to consistently dress well which is a resultant effect of looking good, a few things need to be kept in mind:

KNOW THE OCCASION

Knowing the occasion is nothing more than taking due cognizance of the period of time a particular event you are looking to attend. This may also refer to the particular season of the year. Wearing shots when its really cold outside will not only be out of place but stup… is that even possible for one to do? knowledge of this may be helpful in a handful of ways; the first being that you get to measure your use of certain fashion pieces and don’t show up over dressed, and the second being you don’t show up with a shirt and tie to a black tux event.

 KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

Well, are you startled? we all have audience believe or not, people are on the sidelines and they are doing nothing but watching. a proper knowledge of who your audience are is not far fetched from a proper knowledge of the occasion. One can say, knowing your audience is a function of knowing what occasion. If you are dressing to a work that demands you dress up, you must stay out of the sidelines, lest you fall in the the occasion of dressing casually which may be provoked by the fact that the people around you dress just too casually to their jobs – remember who you work for.

KNOW YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

This should not be replaced by anything whatsoever, in fact, it should have been the first point. Now that you are here, be reminded that your personal style supersedes whatever you see on  blogs, TV, runways and wherever… Why? If you are a conservative person who doesn’t like bright tones, trying to follow the trends of the present day men’s fashion industry, you may be forced to wear pink or even purple which may eventually make you uncomfortable and that may ruin a few things with confidence as the first.

KNOW COLORS AND WHAT THEY REPRESENT

Ok, this should have fallen under the “know your personal style” segment. Colors are just everything when it comes to fashion; It is the singular basis upon which everything is founded. In fact, colors distinguishes most pieces in men’s fashion making it look like there are a thousand things you need to own – save colors; a shirt is just a shirt. Colors say a lot of things, they even go as far as affecting our moods. Black is known as a gentleman’s color solely because it is attributed to power and control and a pinch of luxury. Summarily,

The genius thing to do is to feel first; the occasion, personal style, audience, relevance of colors after which it becomes easy to pick from your wardrobe the right outfit; other things are just secondary once you get this right, like matching you belt with your shoes; that is one men’s wear advise that can never be overemphasized. Consciously pairing patterns with solid colors so that they just stand alone and kill the look and so many other which are represented on this blog. Except if you are looking to dress the way it is in your head, the way you envision yourself to look, this guide may be helpful.
