We all are conversant with the fact that there are seasons when the weather becomes so harsh that even the periodic self-protection of the body by our hair becomes futile. This period can almost not come by unnoticed. Along with it comes, in certain continents, snow and other extremities of the season.
Because of the adverse effects brought about by the subject, it is advised that proper clothing be used, clothing made from thick or woolen fabrics. Basically anything that covers the entire human body. In cooler climates, areas where the temperature is rather too unbearable, it becomes logically necessary to layer clothing, with each layer made of a certain material to reduce air. What the layering method does is trap insulating air.
With enough said, there is by all means no need to go into details of some of the adverse effects of this particular climatic change as we already know them, or I assume we do. It is because of this that I entitled this article ‘pullover’, referring to a particular material worn during the aforementioned weather conditions. This piece of fabric as it is can represent any knitted garment intended to cover the upper body and arms. It is often times referred to as a sweater, cardigan, which otherwise is known as a sweater with an open front fastened by buttons or a zipper, and jumper or jersey in British English. A sweater is not a uni-sexual
piece of clothing as it can be worn by both sexes except for those that are made exceptionally for a particular gender type.
It is really important to note that this piece of fabric helps protect the upper body (mostly) and arms from cold. This function has not been foregone, only because in recent times it has been used regardless of the atmospheric conditions. Now, there is no harm in the excessive usage, the truth is it has now been enlisted in the very vast fashion pieces to hold an esteemed and viable position in every wardrobe.
The cardigan has grown from being used as a means to an end, which is to curtail the adverse effects of cold to being a means to another end which does not surpass the former but stresses to modify it. This fashion days where people are doing all they can to work hard and earn a living alongside look good, the use of the sweater ventures into new grounds, unraveling with it each day novelties which emanates from wearing them as an over shirt to using them as under shirts, as shawls tied around the neck, as an indirect replacement to suit jackets and the list goes on…. With the recent decorations added to them and production of various yet-to-be-named collections, it becomes imperative to buy into the trend of staying warm in style.
